Some people start the week by checking emails.
Some people start it by pretending they are going to become more organised.
And one person in Cleveland apparently started it by becoming a millionaire for life.
Not bad.
An Ohio Lottery player has become the first jackpot winner of the Millionaire for Life™ game since it launched in February, winning $1,000,000 a year for life in the April 27, 2026 drawing.
Yes, for life.
Not “for a few years.”
Not “until the money runs out.”
Not “until someone from finance ruins the mood.”
A million dollars. Every year. For life.
The winning ticket matched all five numbers plus the Millionaire Ball. The numbers were:
4, 15, 19, 21, 31
Millionaire Ball: 4
The ticket was not a random quick pick either. The winner manually chose the numbers, which means somewhere out there, someone is now probably feeling deeply validated about whatever personal number-picking system they used.
The ticket was sold at Giant Eagle, located at 15325 Edgecliff Ave. in Cleveland.
Millionaire for Life is a multi-state draw game currently offered in 31 states. Tickets cost $5 per play, and drawings are held daily, because apparently once a week was not enough emotional damage for people checking lottery results.
Still, this time it worked.
For one Ohio player, a simple ticket has turned into the kind of financial security most people only imagine while sitting in traffic, mentally quitting their job for the 400th time.
The Ohio Lottery says it has contributed more than $34 billion to education since 1974. But for this particular winner, the bigger lesson is probably much simpler:
Sometimes life is brutally unfair.
And occasionally, very occasionally, it is unfair in your favour.
