Veteran Lands $900,000 on Hoosier Lottery Scratch-off

Tuesday, August 21, 2018

Anthony Vottero, a retired veteran from Indianapolis had a very different attitude from many when finding out that he had won $900,000 with the Hoosier Lottery. A lot of people who win, may start planning all of the material things that they are going to buy for themselves e.g. a new car or a boat, but not Anthony. Anthony purchased his ticket from the Meijer C-Stop which is located at 6060 U.S. Highway 6 in Portage, and explained that he buys tickets every so often, this time he went to his truck and started scratching it off to see many zeros in front of him. “This can’t be real” he thought to himself before going back into the store to get a worker to double-check the ticket, who said “Please don’t have a heart attack” before handing it over, confirming the $900,000 win. Vottero, served the military as a Coast guard for over seven years, including being deployed to Iraq during this time – now, as a disabled veteran he wants to give back to the same people who aided him in his post-war battle with PTSD, and will be donating to the Road Home Program in Chicago. Aside from this, Anthony and his wife are thinking about helping a church as well as their own family. What a lovely way to spend their winnings.
