Armando Perez, from Inland Empire has always been buying lottery ticket’s as a way of calming down after work but when he came to realize that he’d won a $1,000,000 prize – it’s doubtful that he was able to relax at all! Perez, says his mind is often “going 100 miles per hour” when he finally comes home after a long day so his way of finding some peace within himself is popping down to the supermarket after walking his dog to buy a few things as well as a few California Scratchers tickets. On this occasion, he stopped off at G&B Liquor which is located at 15466 ½ San Bernardino Avenue and decided to purchase a $10 Holiday Magic Scratchers ticket before rushing home to watch a football game on TV. “About five minutes into the first quarter, I started scratching the ticket. I didn’t really pay close attention because, to be honest, I was more focused on the football game. When I looked at the ticket again, I told my girlfriend, who was sitting on the other couch, that I’d just won $1 million” he recalled. However, funnily enough his girlfriend thought he was joking and didn’t believe him until he showed her the winning ticket, and that’s when she started freaking out. After finishing the game, Perez quickly headed back to the store to get a store employee to check the ticket – who at first thought it was a $1,000 prize before registering that it was actually $1,000,000. “It’s always in the back of your mind that you can win a lot of money. You want to believe it, but the odds are against you. But happened! There’s always hope, because if there wasn’t hope, you wouldn’t play” he exclaimed. He’s excited for the future, and plans to use some of the money to go on vacation as well as helping his mom financially and planning for retirement. The store will also receive a $5,000 bonus just for selling the winning ticket!
